David Sherbow’s perspective in the rock, pop, R&B and hip-hop music business is based on over 35 years of experience. He has seen thousands of live shows and concerts – from Elvis Presley to Otis Redding, from James Brown to the Rolling Stones and from U2 to Jay-Z.  In the early 1970’s  David interviewed and wrote many articles on great rock and R&B artists for various publications. 

He has managed and booked numerous rock, funk, rap and R&B artists, ran independent record companies that have released over 25 albums selling between 1,500 and 50,000 copies each, made many major label record deals and was the head of urban promotion for WMG’s Asylum Records for a short while in 2004. 

David’s independent record promotion companies have worked for every major label and are responsible for breaking over 100 No. 1 records from 1995 to 2009, breaking records for such acts as Jay-Z, Ludacris, DMX, Ja Rule, Ashanti, Kanye West, Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Fabolous, Brandy, T.I., Outkast, Sean Kingston, DJ Khaled, Jim Jones and Pharrell.  

In the mid 1970’s while in law school, David taught a course in the history of rock and roll at Washington University in St. Louis.  In 2012-2013, he taught Music Industry II at Towson University in Baltimore, MD.

Additionally, he has spent the past 15 years immersed in the digital music and music business internet space. From 2005-2010, David developed a music discovery e-commerce portal and an artist booking portal. He has 5,200 followers on Twitter as @MusicBizGuy.
